Online Backup of Your Hard Drive – Carbonite!
I am experienced computer user who is well aware of the importance of backups to my hard drive. I live in Gulfport, Mississippi on the Mississippi Gulf Coast between New Orleans and Mobile, Alabama. On August 29, 2005, we experienced the worst Hurricane to make landfall in the United States. Of course, I am talking about Katrina.
I grew up In New Orleans and I know very well the danger of Hurricanes. I do not live on the beach, so I did not consider myself in danger from flooding. My home was inundated with over six feet of water backing up from the inland bayous near my home. I had never even gotten water in my home before during previous hurricanes.
I had backed up my important computer data to DVD and put those away in a safe place. I also had backed up my data and put it on my 2 personal computers at my office. I think most people would agree that is sufficient protection. It was not.
The flooding destroyed my computer and I couldn’t even find my backup DVD’s in the rubble. The lighting zapped all my computers at the office and all that data was lost. Now in retrospect, I could have unplugged all my computers at the office. There are a lot of “woulda, coulda, shoulda’” that many people will tell you about in this area, but you don’t expect the unexpected. The bottom line is I now have discovered Carbonite online backup and it is very reasonably priced and I can backup all my computer data at home and the office.
